This piece is speaks about the struggles of an upcoming artist. It is a description of a journey of resilience and how to break through with your expertise /talent.

Lyrics

Every morning when I wake up
The only thing that lays bare in my head
Is how to become a big poet.
To be sought after by the rich
Become a pintrest
Get the wages of my labor
Get paid with interest.

There is no use being called
King of words,
If the only place you are kinging is your locality
I think of other nationalities
But I start from my Jerusalem.

I want to be on lipfest
But I start by mastering my lip, first
Count my teeth with my tongue
I have been grinding for this molar (money )
Chewing contents with my premolar
Tearing truths with my incisors
So my poems will have the right dentition,

My hustle is different
My project topic is how to become a
Billionaire poet
I have done my survey
My questionnaires, are full of the opinion of men
I heard the external supervisor lives up,
Above the sky and the heart of kings
Are in his hands
I have studied so heaven
Will approve
I am a desperate artist not ashamed of her tools

I know your eyes are tired of me
But I will always be in your faces
Call it consistency
There is a thin line between poverty and poor visibility
Shyness and mediocrity
Are intertwined
And the only way out is a
Prison break.

I heard my quest calls for
Sweat and blood
And I am willing to die
Like Jesus Christ

I have learnt to watch for more than an hour,
Learned to pray to God our father
Give us this day our freshly baked poems
I know there are no guarantees
Poetry is an act of faith
A spinckle of “God when”
A supplication of “God abeg!”
But I have learnt.

Upon this rock
I have built the church of my resilience
Some days I am too tired to push
But too in love to quit
These punchlines do not let me rest
They keep drawing me back to paper
I did not choose poetry, poetry chose me!

I have arrived on this Mount Sanna
I have experienced a Transfiguration
My shy heart is now that of Elijah
I know how to send down fire
My words are now the rod that part the red sea
Now I see

That like Abraham
Poetry will require your Isaac
You will use your last card to record a poem
Check out for last card, last card, check out
You expected to pick 2, pick 3 million streams,
But the only thing streaming down your face is
Bitter tears

As you hear your heart scream
I am enough, my only crime was to dream big !
I guess talent was not enough

You are just too introverted
I bet your God knew you would
Isolate, so he taught us how to collaborate

I bet your God knew
That the road was tough
So he asked us to look up
Gave us fathers of faith
Call them mentors

Rome was not built in a day
You will build this craft
Brick by brick
Day by day
Call forth the Lazarus of a new dawn
When you finally mingle with kings
And mount up on Eagles Wings
You will look back and
Teach the next generation
How talent was never enough

keep shining to the next level of greatness

absolutely beautiful piece of poetry

more great grace to you 🙏 and kudos to you ✌️❤️

this is awesome and so so amazing! ❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯

wow! this is more than just a poetry or spoken word. but this is words of wisdom, knowledge and understanding on a deep thought and doer.

Powerful 🔥🔥🔥

talent was never enough.😍😍

This... it is indeed thoughtful and full of thoughts for both a thinker and the doer, and quite right, "talent is not enough"; the word-play too impresses presenting common, for the Nigerian environment, concepts easily identified. The anguish of one seeking to excel yet pondering on how to, even after doing what one can.🤔 Hmm. Kudos truely in penning and rendering theism in mortal doctrine!

You are always on point❤

A great masterpiece just as always. You never fall short of expectation. Well done...

I'm utterly speechless, this is nothing other than great piece. More power to your elbow💪💪💪
