Talent is indispensable-- yet, it is almost immovable.
Hard-work is the push needed to move Talent from it's state of rest.

What makes a man?
Talent? or Hard-work?
An age old question that has divided the camp of success...
What if we could have a conversation with the both of them?
A question of three...
What truths would we hear?
The savory? Or the gruesome...
I ask, because an opportunity presented itself before one who sought, and he had the fortune of asking... Or was it a misfortune?
I can't say, for he never did say.
Is there a saying "99 percent talent and 1 percent hard-work" breeds a success story.
No, I believe it is "99 percent hard-work and 1 percent talent." Yes, this sounds more reasonable. And a lot more believable.
So he asked, where be the balance between hard-work and talent?
It was here "hard-work" bowed it's head, and in an almost inaudible voice, it said: there isn't one...
This came as shock to the who sought, because mother always said: even without talent, hard work can take you places.
Yet, he did not like where the answers hard-work was hinting at led to.
He should have known, he was no longer the child he used to be. Now he knows... Mother is not always right.
The question may have been the problem So, he sought rectification.
How much of talent does a man need to succeed, he asked with a burning chest of hope.
And again, hard-work answered: everyone has talent, it may not present itself as we may have expected, but within everyone a talent rests. Like gold, some can appear on the surface leading to an easy discovery. Yet, like the same gold, some would lay in the depths of darkness unnoticed-- it's mining difficulty, set to hell mode. As long as you draw breath, there is talent.
The answer did not sound like an answer... But, a chance was a chance.
Now, he knew what moment he was at, so his next words had to count for something... He could not leave without the answers he sought, before him an opportunity stood, ready to be grasped... Could his fingers hold unto it?
His last question must be of paramount value.
The loud sound of the ensuing silence felt like the focus of gravity was upon his mind.
An idea, like a flickering light in the dark, snuffed out before it could dispel the darkness.
And yet, a question must be asked. And so it was.
Why has "Talent" been silent all this while?
For the last time, "Hard-work" replied: Ahhh.... the only reasonable question you have asked. For Talent, cannot function without my aid.
So, I ask you... What makes a man?
Talent? Or, Hard-work?
I won't choose... Because, mother knows best.
