The Christmas time is my favorite time of the year.

Lyrics

When the dry and dusty northeast wind which blows from the Sahara desert suddenly rises from her deep slumber,
and dutifully bring us the long awaited harmattan season
leaving our streets littered with particles of dead leaves
and the windscreen of our cars
with large amount of dust,
then it feels like the Christmas season.

When every fine boy
and every fine girl,
old or young in Nigeria especially
in the northern part of the country
steps out of his or her room and
did not forget to grab a lipgloss or a bottle of jelly
to balm his or her cracked lips
as a result of the effect of the harmattan wind,
then it feels like the Christmas time.

When every plate of white rice and stew that is served on the table of an average Nigerian
is well garnished with pieces of fried chicken or turkey,
then it feels like the Christmas time

When a typical Nigerian who takes little practical jokes to heart
is seen chasing after some adventurous ghetto kids
for throwing a knockout at him,
then it feels like the Christmas time

When an uncle, an aunty, a brother,
a sister, a cousin, a nephew, a niece,
who in the month of January traveled to Lagos
all returns home to the village, sit on a round table with other members of the extended family, to share a bottle of coke, a plate of white rice and stew, and a bowl of cooked local chicken, then it feels like Christmas season.

When the birds
Of the air
Tweet sweetly
On every tree,
The violent breeze
Blow gently
With so much ease,

When the children's playground is messed
With Some fancy sparkling toys
And grandma’s room is filled
With a random silent noise,

When teenage boys and little pretty girls from the neighborhood surrounds grandpa’s table
With all of them putting on a colour
Coordinating red and green hoodie
To match with the season’s color
And grandpa blesses them
all with the holiday’s goodies,
Then it feels like Christmas season

When the summertime
Sluggishly kisses
The east wind a goodbye
And the winter season
Merely Kisses the earth a hello,
Then it feels like Christmas time

When the cost of transportation
From Lagos to Calabar,
From east to west,
From north to south
Is twice the normal price,
Then it feels like Christmas time.

When the jingle bell ding-dong
merrily on high,
Then it feels like Christmas time
it feels like the Christmas season

A season the choir
Raise their voices higher
At the sight
of the goodnight light
Singing,
Silent night holy night
All is calm and all is bright.

A season children roll below the dusty floor
fly high Nigh the sky
Screaming merrily
Joy to the world
The lord is come,

A season the twinkle tinkle
Little star,
Sprinkles love above the sky
The shepherd first saw the sparkling stars.
And said;

Oh! Holy night
The stars are brightly shining
Here is the night of our dear Savior’s birth.

A season the thinner dinner
Becomes fatter flatter
Like a holly jolly
While Santa Claus visits every home
With the holiday goodies

A season Christ was born
In a bunk
The three wise men
Heard of the savior laid in a manger
And said,
Lo in a manger lies the king of angels.
Come, all ye faithful, let us adore him.

Sparkling fireworks
Glittering twinkling Christmas lights
Charming Christmas trees
Exotic Christmas gifts
And a delicious evening meal.
Early morning winter’s warm kisses
And late evening fine dishes
All of these make the Christmas holiday
An exceptional

But Christmas without the genuine
love of Christ,
Christmas without Christ,
Would be just
Another everyday mass

If I have one wish,
I will wish the Christmas
Season comes and stays
And never goes away.
